City-run public banks, Starbucks to charge for disposable coffee cups and UK to plant more than 
50 million trees

There is a growing movement to create city-run public banks that serve the needs of citizens, not investors; Starbucks has announced a three-month trial in its London stores,

starting in February, to test the impact of a 5p charge on in-store disposable coffee cups; and the United Kingdom has announced plans to plant more than 50 million trees across major swathes of northern England to create the "Northern Forest".
